Short stories between 2,000 and 20,000 words.We're accepting contemporary science fiction, supernatural, slipstream and fantasy short stories for eBook distribution.
We'll consider previously published material and even simultaneous submissions, just be up front about the history of the piece in your cover letter. Also give us a heads up on the word count.
We try to respond in about 2 weeks, but it might take us longer. You can check the status of your submission online. We require a minimum of first ebook rights, worldwide and non-exclusive anthology rights for a short period -- but the specifics will be unique to your story. If we're interested, we'll let you know and hammer out the details then. We generally offer a small advance and royalties.

Heroics Anthology

Boxfire Press is looking for short stories for its upcoming anthology: Heroics: Strange Tales of Absurd Superheroes. They can be stories about unconventional superheroes, stories about superheroes having a bad day, stories where the superhero is ancillary (though there has to be a superhero element). The best stories will be original, with a strong voice, and that properly mix the superhero element with human emotions. This is a paid market (small flat fee payment + royalties).
